White House Concludes Review of OSHA Heat Injury and Illness Proposed Rule

The White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) announced it has concluded its review of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) proposed rule on Heat Injury and Illness in Indoor and Outdoor Work Settings. SWACCA submitted comments with the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry (AWCI) on OSHA’s advanced notice of proposed rulemaking for this proposed rule in January 2022. The completion of OIRA review is typically the last step before an item is published in the Federal Register.

Following the conclusion of OIRA review, the Department of Labor released: (1) the regulatory text of the rule; (2) the proposed rule’s background, health effects, risk assessment, and explanation of proposed requirements; and (3) the proposed rule’s preliminary economic analysis. In addition to these materials, OSHA also released a fact sheet on the proposed rule in both English and Spanish.
