OSHA National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health’s Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Work Group Meeting Outlines Recommended Elements for OSHA’s Nationwide Heat Injury and Illness Standard

Yesterday, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health’s (NACOSH) Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Work Group met to discuss OSHA’s Heat Injury and Illness enforcement efforts and its development of a forthcoming nationwide heat injury and illness standard on which SWACCA submitted pre-rulemaking comments with the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry in January 2022.

SWACCA’s D.C. team monitored Thursday’s meeting at which the committee discussed its key recommendations on the elements it wants the NACOSH to advise OSHA to include in its heat injury and illness rulemaking. A copy of those recommendations is available here. The document includes recommendations related to training, environmental monitoring, and workplace control measures, among other suggestions. The NACOSH will next meet on May 31st to consider these recommendations.
