OSHA Announces Meeting of Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health on April 24 to Discuss Heat Injury and Illness Rulemaking

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced a public meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH) on April 24, 2024 to address the following agenda items: (1) OSHA’s Heat Injury and Illness Prevention in Outdoor and Indoor Work Rulemaking (on which SWACCA submitted comments with the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry in January 2022); (2) OSHA’s Infectious Disease Rulemaking; and (3) a public comment period.

The ACCSH advises the Secretary of Labor and the Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA in the formulation of standards affecting the construction industry and on policy matters arising in the administration of the safety and health provisions of the Construction Safety Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The ACCSH’s Workgroups include those addressing: (1) “Education, Training, and Outreach”; (2) “Emerging and Current Issues”; (3) Injury and Illness Prevention Program”; (4) “Health Hazards, Emerging Issues & Prevention through Design”; (5) Temporary Worker”; (6) “Women in Construction”; and (7) “Backing Operations.”

The meeting will be held on April 24, 2024 from 1pm to 5:30pm ET through WebEx. Directions for attending the meeting will be posted on the ACCSH website here in advance of the meeting. Comments and requests to speak during the meeting are due by April 18, 2024 and can be submitted through the federal eRulemaking portal here using Docket No. OSHA-2024-0002.
