DOT Announces Nearly $1 Billion in Airport Infrastructure Funding SWACCA Helped to Secure in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
The Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration announced the award of $970 million in SWACCA-supported grants through the Airport Terminal Program funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to improve terminals at 114 airports across 44 states. As you will recall, SWACCA successfully lobbied to include $15 billion in funding for airport improvements in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which was signed into law by President Biden in 2021.
The five largest grant awards went to: (1) Ft. Lauderdale, Florida ($50 million); (2) Chicago O’Hare ($40 million); (3) Phoenix, Arizona ($36 million); (4) Washington-Dulles ($35 million); and (5) Los Angeles and San Francisco (both receiving $31 million). A complete list of the airports receiving funding is available here. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg also visited Charlotte Douglas International Airport, which received a $27 million grant award as part of today’s announcement.
