Senate Passes Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, Sends It to the House for Consideration
The Senate passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill, entitled the “Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act,” by a vote of 69-30. SWACCA’s public policy team helped to secure provisions in the bill that will create work for SWACCA members if it passes the House and becomes law, including: (1) $15 billion for airports; (2) $3.418 billion for the repair and renovation or various federal properties; and (3) $131 million for Coast Guard housing, family support, safety, and training facilities and an additional $120 million for construction and improvement of Coast Guard childcare development centers.
To pay for the legislation, the Senate proposes shortening the time for employers to claim the employee retention tax credit on a portion of workers’ wages from December 31st to September 30th.
This legislation is now heading to the House for consideration, where it may still be revised and amended further.
