Biden Administration Announces New Steps to Advance Artificial Intelligence Development and Deployment
The White House announced new actions to simultaneously advance artificial intelligence (AI) and “protect individuals’ rights and safety.” The actions announced today include: (1) an updated roadmap from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to focus federal investments in AI research and development; and (2) a request for information (RFI) from OSTP that seeks input on national priorities for mitigating AI risks, protecting individuals’ rights and safety, and harnessing AI to improve lives.
These actions come as the White House held a listening session today with workers to hear firsthand experiences with employers’ use of automated technologies for surveillance, monitoring, evaluation, and management.
