White House Announces Delayed Effective Date for Federal Contractor Employee Vaccine Mandate

Today, as the Administration was rolling out OSHA’s emergency temporary standard (ETS) for COVID-19 vaccination and testing for employers with 100 or more employees, the White House announced that it was shifting the deadline of the separate federal contractor vaccine mandate from December 8, 2021, to January 4, 2022. In a fact sheet on the OSHA standard, the White House said the revised compliance date for the contractor rule is intended to streamline implementation of the various mandates and make it easier for employers to comply with the requirements, as some federal contractors may have workplaces subject to requirements for federal contractors and other workplaces subject to the OSHA COVID-19 ETS.  Employees falling under the ETS or federal contractor rules will now need to have their final vaccination dose by January 4.
