SWACCA Helps to Defeat Amendment that Would Have Prevented the Use of PLAs on Defense Department Construction Projects
As part of our ongoing advocacy in favor of project labor agreements, the SWACCA public policy team lobbied to help defeat an amendment offered by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to the fiscal year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act that would have barred application of President Biden’s SWACCA-supported Executive Order on PLAs on Department of Defense construction projects.
SWACCA succeeded in defeating Rep. Gaetz’s amendment in a 26-31 vote after all Democrats and four Republicans—Reps. Mike Turner (OH), Don Bacon (NE), Nick LaLota (NY), and Brad Finstad (MN)—opposed the amendment.
