SWACCA Renews Support for Legislation to Reauthorize and Expand the National Apprenticeship Act

Today, the Signatory Wall and Ceiling Contractors Alliance (SWACCA) renewed its longstanding support for the National Apprenticeship Act of 2023 recently reintroduced by House Education and the Workforce Committee Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA) and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA). This important legislation will expand and strengthen registered apprenticeship programs by providing more than $3.85 billion over five years to increase access to registered apprenticeships. It also codifies and streamlines standards for registered youth apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeship programs and codifies both the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship and the National Advisory Committee on Apprenticeships.

In a letter of support for the bill, SWACCA highlighted our members’ extensive history of working with our union partners to create and sustain high-quality registered apprenticeship programs. These programs are integral to SWACCA members’ ability to provide high quality construction services while also providing jobs with family-sustaining wages and benefits.
