SBA Announces Data Breach Associated with EIDL program, PPP Loan Applicants Unaffected
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that about 8,000 applicants seeking coronavirus pandemic assistance through the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program may have had their personal data compromised by a software glitch. The breach was discovered on March 25 and does NOT affect applicants seeking aid from the Paycheck Protection Program.
The SBA says it “immediately disabled” the portion of the agency’s website that was affected and “addressed the issue and relaunched the application portal.”
The SBA notified those affected and offered a year of free credit monitoring.
