OSHA Announces NACOSH Meetings to Discuss Heat Injury and Illness ANPRM
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced virtual public meetings of the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) and the NACOSH Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Work Group on February 22, 2022 and February 25, 2022 (respectively).
The tentative agenda for NACOSH’s February 22 meeting includes: (1) a discussion regarding OSHA’s work on heat injury and illness prevention (including the agency’s related October 27, 2021 advance notice of proposed rulemaking); (2) a discussion on risk-based safety; and (3) updates from OSHA and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
The Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Work Group was established to help NACOSH respond to OSHA’s request to provide recommendations on the agency’s heat injury and illness prevention guidance and rulemaking activities. The Work Group will evaluate OSHA’s heat illness and prevention guidance materials, develop recommendations for guidance materials, evaluate stakeholder input, and develop recommendations on potential elements of a proposed heat injury and illness prevention standard. It will then present its written findings and proposed recommendations to the full NACOSH committee for consideration.
The February 22 NACOSH meeting will be held from 1pm to 5pm ET and will be available via WebEx here using passcode Welcome!24 or via teleconference at (800) 779 – 1534 using passcode 2969166.
