House Passes FY2023 Omnibus Spending Bill with SWACCA-Advocated Priorities, Sending the Bill to President Biden to Be Signed into Law
This afternoon, the House voted 225-201 to pass the fiscal year 2023 omnibus spending package. Among SWACCA’s many priorities, this legislation included SWACCA-advocated provisions to: (1) provide additional funds for the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division to increase investigations and enforcement actions related to employee misclassification; (2) restrict the $285 million in apprenticeship funding in the bill to registered apprenticeship programs; and (3) fund initiatives encouraging separating service members to pursue opportunities in registered apprenticeship programs.
The Senate already passed the legislation yesterday by a vote of 68-29, so it now heads to President Joe Biden, who will sign it into law in time to avoid a federal government shutdown at midnight.
