House Gives Final Approval to Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, Clearing Measure for the White House

Late this evening, the House passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill H.R. 3684, the “Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act,” by a vote of 228-206.  The bill now goes to the White House, where President Biden is expected to sign it into law.  The measure, which passed the Senate on August 10, had been held up in the House while negotiations continued over President Biden’s signature “Build Back Better Act.”

During the development of H.R. 3684, SWACCA’s public policy team helped to secure provisions in the bill that create work for SWACCA members, including: (1) $15 billion for airports; (2) $3.418 billion for the repair and renovation or various federal properties; and (3) $131 million for Coast Guard housing, family support, safety, and training facilities and an additional $120 million for construction and improvement of Coast Guard childcare development centers.
