GSA’s Green Building Advisory Committee to Meet on May 10 to Discuss Report on Federal Building Decarbonization Efforts
The General Services Administration’s (GSA) Office of Federal High-Performance Green Buildings announced a meeting of the Green Building Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) on May 10, 2023 and meetings of the Advisory Committee’s “Green Leasing Task Group” (Task Group) on alternate Thursdays from May 18, 2023 through December 14, 2023. The agenda for the Advisory Committee’s May 10, 2023 meeting includes: (1) updates from GSA; (2) an update from the “Federal Building Decarbonization Task Group”; (3) discussions regarding federal green leasing; and (4) public comments. In addition, the upcoming meetings of the Task Group will focus on the development of consensus recommendations for the full Advisory Committee.
The Advisory Committee provides advice to GSA on how to rapidly transform federal buildings to utilize sustainable green technologies and practices. The Advisory Committee focuses primarily on reviewing strategic plans, products, and activities of the Office of Federal High-Performance Green Buildings and provides advice regarding how the Office can accomplish its mission most effectively. Separately, the Task Group will explore and recommend approaches to help GSA meet federal requirements for “net zero” greenhouse gas emissions in its leasing of space in privately-owned commercial buildings for federal use.
The Advisory Committee will meet on May 10, 2023 from 10am to 12:30pm CT as follows: (1) in-person at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center, 30 South 7th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, 55402; and (2) virtually through a webcast. Requests to participate, whether in-person are virtually, must be completed here by 5pm ET on May 3, 2023. The Task Group meetings will be held virtually on alternate Thursdays from May 18, 2023 through December 14, 2023 from 3pm to 4pm ET each day. Requests to participate in the full series of Task Group meetings must be completed here by 5pm ET on May 15, 2023. After that time, requests to participate in ongoing Task Group meetings must be submitted to gbac@gsa.gov by 5pm ET on the Monday before the meeting in question, providing the participant’s name, title, organization, and email address.
