EPA Announces Environmental Financial Advisory Board Webinars to Examine Pollution Prevention Initiatives

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a pair of Environmental Financial Advisory Board (EFAB) webinars on May 10, 2022 and June 22, 2022 as part of its “Pollution Prevention Finance Forum.” The Pollution Prevention Finance Forum is a series of webinars that explore opportunities and challenges in financing sustainability, with an initial focus on advancing opportunities for small and medium-sized manufacturing businesses. The purpose of the May 10 webinar is to further assess the types of financial tools and models that are or could be made available for pollution prevention (P2) projects and are relevant to small and medium-sized businesses and manufacturers.  P2, also known as “source reduction,” refers to any practice that reduces, eliminates, or prevents pollution at its source prior to recycling, treatment, or disposal.  The June 22 webinar will assess partnership models and explore potential partnership opportunities and distribution networks for P2 projects. The general purpose of EFAB is to provide advice and recommendations to the EPA on creative approaches to funding environmental programs, projects, and activities.

The webinars will be held from 12pm to 1:30pm ET each day on May 10, 2022 and June 22, 2022.  Registration for the webinars can be competed here (for the May 10 session) and here (for the June 22 session).  Webinar materials (including agendas and background materials) will be available here in advance.  Written comments should be submitted by email to efab@epa.gov and are due by May 5, 2022 (for the May 10 session) and June 17 (for the June 22 session).
