House Education and the Workforce Committee to Mark Up Congressional Review Act Resolution Aimed at Nullifying SWACCA-Supported Independent Contractor Rule
The House Education and the Workforce Committee announced plans to markup H.J. Res. 116, a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to nullify the Labor Department’s final SWACCA-supported independent contractor rule this Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 10:15am. The CRA process allows Congress to nullify “major” rules issued by federal agencies if both chambers pass a resolution by a simple majority and the President signs it.
SWACCA has been advocating to oppose this CRA resolution, including sending letters to the House and Senate on March 13, 2024 with our allies in the Construction Employers of America to highlight the negative impact to law-abiding, honest employers in the construction industry if the final rule is rescinded.
