DOL to Hold Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship Meeting on January 12
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration announced a public meeting of the Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship (ACA) on January 12, 2023 focused on youth apprenticeship and finalizing the priorities for the upcoming year. Specific agenda items include: (1) remarks from ETA leadership and other apprenticeship stakeholders; (2) a youth apprenticeship panel; (3) insights regarding youth apprenticeship site visits; (4) subcommittee reports regarding the “Strategic Framework” and “Year Two Focus”; and (5) public comments. The ACA provides advice and recommendations on ways to better utilize the apprenticeship training model to provide equitable career pathways that advance the dignity of work and emphasize three strategic areas: (1) the expansion, modernization, and diversification of the National Apprenticeship model; (2) the expansion of apprenticeships into new industries and sectors including, but not limited to, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, information technology, and healthcare; and (3) equitable access for all workers to participate and succeed in the National Apprenticeship system.
The meeting will be held on January 12, 2023 at 9am MT and will be available both in-person and remotely as follows: (1) in-person at the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce located at 1445 Market Street, Denver, CO 80202; (2) through WebEx here using event password Welcome!24; and (3) by phone at (877) 465 – 7975 using access code 2760 372 1954. There is no requirement to RSVP to participate by WebEx or by phone. Written comments are due by December 28, 2022 and can be submitted by email to AdvisoryCommitteeonApprenticeship@dol.gov using the subject line “January 2023 ACA Meeting.”
