The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released the latest data on union membership in the United States, finding that in 2023 the number of union workers employed in the private sector increased by 191,000 to 7.4 million, while the unionization rate was unchanged at 6%. In particular, the data found that the construction industry in 2023 was among the industries with the highest unionization rates at 16.3%.
