Bureau of Labor Statistics Releases 2022 Injury and Illness Data that Finds Injuries in Construction Held Steady Between 2021 and 2022

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released new data showing that in 2022, private employers reported a 7.5% increase in the number of injuries and illnesses from 2021. In 2022, there were 2.8 million cases—up from 2.6 million in 2021.

Notably, the absolute number of injuries in construction held relatively steady with 168,400 injuries in 2022, up just slightly from 169,200 in 2021, according to a BLS breakdown by occupation.
