OSHA Announces Dates for National Safety Stand-Down
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has announced that the sixth edition of National Safety Stand-Down will take place May 6-10, 2019. Accounting for around one third of all construction fatalities recorded by BLS in 2016, falls from elevation continue to pose an unnecessary and largely preventable hazard to America’s construction workers.
This voluntary OSHA initiative is open to all businesses, and provides an opportunity for employers and employees to discuss any fall hazards present in the workplace, as well as any other hazards present. Previous iterations of the National Safety Stand-Down have included a wide range of participants, from construction companies to Federal government and military contractors, unions, and trade associations.
OSHA has provided numerous resources to help employers in conducting these sessions and creating plans for risk mitigation. Certificates of participation will be available for all who conduct these meetings.
