House Education and the Workforce Committee Advances Legislation to Reauthorize WIOA and Nullify SWACCA-Supported Joint Employer Rule
The House Education and the Workforce Committee voted to advance: (1) H.R. 6655, “A Stronger Workforce for America Act,” legislation to reauthorize the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, by a vote of 44-1; and (2) H.R. 6585, the “Bipartisan Workforce Pell Act,” legislation to extend Pell Grant eligibility to certain short-term workforce programs, by a vote of 37-8.
The Committee also voted 25-20 to advance H.J. Res. 98, a Congressional Review Act resolution that we highlighted on November 9, 2023 that seeks to nullify the National Labor Relations Board’s SWACCA-supported joint employer final rule. These measures will now head to the full House for consideration.
