SWACCA Joins CEA in Letter to Education and Workforce Subcommittee in Support of Wage and Hour Division’s Work on Davis-Bacon and Independent Contractor Rulemakings

Ahead of tomorrow’s Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Workforce Protections’ oversight hearing of the Wage and Hour Division (WHD), SWACCA joined its allies in the Construction Employers of America (CEA) in sending a letter of support to the Subcommittee for WHD Administrator Jessica Looman’s work to support and strengthen the construction industry.

In the letter, SWACCA and CEA note that under Looman’s leadership, WHD has secured key regulatory changes to the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts and restored the independent contractor rule to its longstanding 70-year precedent, all while expanding employer assistance to increase compliance, transparency, and accountability with Labor Department programs and initiatives. The letter also notes CEA’s support for the WHD’s efforts under Administrator Looman to take swift action against those who have attempted to improperly classify workers as independent contractors to reduce their own labor costs.
