National Truck Drivers Group Announces Opposition to Julie’s Su’s Nomination to be Next Labor Secretary Citing Her Support for California’s AB-5 Independent Contractor Law
Last Friday, the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA), which represents truck drivers who are independent owner-operators who normally work as contractors, wrote a letter to the U.S. Senate opposing the nomination of Deputy Labor Secretary Julie Su to replace Marty Walsh as the next U.S. Secretary of Labor. In the letter, OOIDA cites Su’s support for California’s AB-5 independent contractor law, calling it “the most disruptive worker classification policy to be enacted anywhere at the state or federal level.”
