Senate Confirms SWACCA-Supported Nomination of Jessica Looman to Lead the Wage and Hour Division
This afternoon, the Senate voted 51-46 to confirm the SWACCA-supported nomination of Jessica Looman to lead the U.S Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division. Ms. Looman is a former Executive Director of the Minnesota Building Trades and authored the August 2023 final rule that made numerous SWACCA-supported changes to the regulations governing federal Davis-Bacon prevailing wages.
SWACCA has been continuously advocating to advance Ms. Looman’s nomination dating back to last Congress, when she was initially put forward for the job. SWACCA renewed its support for Ms. Looman at the beginning of this Congress when the President resubmitted her nomination in January. The SWACCA policy team lobbied to advance her nomination through the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee in March and we have been consistently advocating for the Senate to bring her nomination to the floor for a confirmation vote.
