OSHA Releases 2022 Data on Occupational Fatalities Showing Construction Had One of the Highest Fatality Rates Across Industries

Last night, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released its 2022 data on occupational fatalities, showing an overall increase of 5.7% and that construction and transportation had the highest fatality rates across industries.

OSHA notes with concern that in 2022 the fatality rate among Black workers rose 12.4% and the rate for Hispanic workers rose 10.4%. OSHA also finds that “work-related overdoses and suicides continue to be causes of great concern.”
