Kansas Labor Department Stepping Up Efforts to Fight Worker Misclassification in the State
Kansas Gov. Kelly and the Kansas Labor Department announced this week that they focused on fighting worker misclassification. In a press release, Kansas Labor Secretary Schutlz explained that misclassification “cheats workers of vital benefits and adversely affects other businesses” and that it results in “unfair competition” for “law-abiding businesses.”
Gov. Kelly said the Kansas Labor Department’s Unemployment Insurance Tax/Employer division “is hiring additional auditors to continue its work to prevent, detect, and investigate” misclassification and that the agency will also raise public awareness by “sharing educational materials on social media.”
