The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) announced three upcoming compliance seminars in July and August 2023.

First, EBSA will hold a Health Benefits Compliance Assistance Seminar on July 26, 2023 from 8:30 am to 4:45 pm and on July 27, 2023 from 8:30 am to 12:15 pm at the Oregon State Fair and Exposition Center: Cascade Hall, 2330 17th Street NE, Salem, OR, 97301. EBSA is teaming up with the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services to provide information, helpful tips, and clarification regarding federal and Oregon health benefits laws. Registration must be completed here by July 24, 2023 and is being done on a first come, first served basis.

Second, EBSA will hold a Health Benefits Compliance Assistance Seminar on August 1, 2023 from 8:30 am to 4:45 pm and on August 2, 2023 from 8:30 am to 12:15 pm at the Landmark Centre, 6222 Ellison Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. The seminar is intended for employers who are trying to comply with federal and Indiana state laws regarding their health plan. Registration must be completed here by July 28, 2023 and is being done on a first come, first served basis.

Finally, EBSA will hold a seminar entitled, “Getting It Right – Knowing Your Fiduciary Responsibilities” on August 3, 2023 from 8:30 am to 5pm at Buffalo State University – Bulger Communication Center, 1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222. The seminar is intended to help employers: (1) understand their retirement plans and responsibilities; (2) carefully select and monitor service providers; (3) make contributions on time; (4) avoid prohibited transactions; and (5) make appropriate disclosures to plan participants and file annual reports on time. Registration must be completed here by August 1, 2023 and is being done on a first come, first served basis.
