DOL Secretary Walsh Announces the “Good Jobs” Initiative to Improve Job Quality and Create Access to Good Union Jobs

This morning, Labor Secretary Marty Walsh announced the “Good Jobs” initiative, aimed at “improving job quality across the country.” Led by the Department of Labor, the Good Jobs initiative will provide information to workers and government entities as they seek to improve job quality and create access to good union jobs.

In a keynote address to the U.S. Conference of Mayors today, Walsh said the Good Jobs initiative is intended to: (1) engage employer stakeholders as partners to improve job quality and workforce pathways to good jobs; (2) provide workers with easily accessible information about their rights, including the right to collectively bargain and form a union; and (3) support partnerships across federal agencies and provide technical assistance on grants, contracts, and other investments intended to improve job quality.

DOL is encouraging employers, workers and federal agencies interested in learning more about the initiative to email GoodJobsInitiative@dol.gov.
