DOL to Hold Listening Sessions on Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace on December 13-15, 2023

The Department of Labor (DOL) announced a series of listening sessions regarding artificial intelligence (AI) on December 13-15, 2023. During the listening sessions, DOL will seek feedback on: (1) job-displacement risks and career opportunities related to AI; (2) labor standards and job quality implications of AI in the workplace, including those related to equity, protected activity, compensation, and health and safety; and (3) implications of employers using AI to collect data on workers, including issues such as data privacy, ownership, and transparency.

The December 13, 2023 listening session will be held from 5:30pm to 7pm ET and will be a comprehensive and open ended listening session (register here). The December 14, 2023 listening session will be held from 11:30am to 1pm ET and will focus on hearing how AI developers and employers are designing and deploying AI in the workplace (register here). The December 15, 2023 listening session will be held from 2pm to 3:30 pm ET and will focus on hearing how workers, unions, worker advocates and AI researchers are considering the impact of AI in the workplace (register here).
