FAA Announces $110 Million in Airport Infrastructure Grant Funding SWACCA Helped to Secure in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

The Transportation Department’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced the award of $110 million in SWACCA-supported grants through the Airport Infrastructure Grant program funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for 74 projects at airports in Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Washington State, and West Virginia to modernize airport and runway infrastructure. SWACCA successfully lobbied to include $15 billion in funding for airport improvements in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which was signed into law by President Biden in 2021.

The five largest grant awards went to: (1) the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport ($7.3 million); (2) the Savannah/Hilton Head International ($7.3 million); (3) the Grand Junction Regional Airport ($3.5 million); (4) the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport ($2.05 million); and (5) the Cape Cod Gateway Airport ($1.8 million).
