FAA Announces $148.3 Million in Airport Infrastructure Grant Funding that SWACCA Helped to Secure in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced the award of $148.3 million for airport-related infrastructure projects in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Washington State, Wisconsin, and Wyoming through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Airport Infrastructure Grants program. SWACCA successfully lobbied to include $15 billion in funding for airport improvements in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which was signed into law by President Biden in 2021.

Airports receiving funding include: (1) $61.9 million to Orlando International in Florida to expand the existing Terminal C apron and an additional 138,481 square yards to accommodate increased use of the Terminal C facilities; (2) $22.1 million to General Edward Lawrence Logan Internation in Boston, Massachusetts to rehabilitate taxiway pavement, lighting systems, and enhance the Land and Hold Short Operations systems at four locations; (3) $13.6 million to Dallas Love Field in Texas to construct a 36,600 square foot aircraft rescue and firefighting building to assist the airport in meeting safety requirements and extend the life of the equipment by protecting it from adverse weather conditions; (4) $12 million to Rhode Island T.F. Green International in Warwick, RI to construct a new 60,000 square yard cargo apron to accommodate increased use of the aviation facilities; and (5) $3.2 million to Arnold Palmer Regional in Latrobe, PA to expand the existing terminal building an additional 22,000 square feet, add a new HVAC and related upgrades for the existing building, fire sprinklers for the addition, as well as fixed seating in the passenger hold room.
