SWACCA Renews Support for President Biden’s Nomination of Jessica Looman to Lead the Wage and Hour Division

This afternoon, SWACCA renewed its support of President Joe Biden’s nomination of Jessica Looman to lead the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) with a letter transmitted to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee. SWACCA’s support of Ms. Looman’s nomination dates back to September 2022, when SWACCA President Robert Klugh sent a letter to the Senate HELP Committee expressing support for Ms. Looman and urging the Committee to expeditiously move her nomination through the confirmation process.

While the Senate HELP Committee advanced Ms. Looman’s nomination to the full Senate last Congress by a bipartisan vote of 13-9, unfortunately her nomination expired with the end of the 117th Congress on January 3, 2023. Now that Ms. Looman has been renominated by President Biden to lead the WHD, SWACCA is renewing its support for her nomination and asking the Senate HELP Committee to again quickly advance her nomination to the full Senate for a confirmation vote.
