House Education and the Workforce Ranking Member Scott Introduces “Labor Enforcement to Securely (LET’S) Protect Workers Act”
House Education and the Workforce Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA) introduced the “Labor Enforcement to Securely (LET’S) Protect Workers Act,” legislation to: (1) increase civil monetary penalties for violations of minimum wage and overtime, worker health and safety, child labor and farmworker protection standards; (2) create new penalties for violations of the National Labor Relations Act, consistent with the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act; (3) set new penalties for retaliation against workers who exercise their family and medical leave rights; (4) close loopholes that allow employers to escape penalties for failing to keep records of workplace injuries if the Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not detect the violation within six months; and (5) strengthen enforcement of mental health parity requirements for employer-sponsored health plans.
