GSA to Convene Meetings of the Federal Building Decarbonization Task Group

The General Service Administration’s (GSA) Office of Federal High-Performance Green Buildings has announced the Green Building Advisory Committee’s Federal Building Decarbonization Task Group will meet recurringly on Mondays between January 10, 2022 and September 26, 2022. The Advisory Committee provides advice to GSA on how to rapidly transform federal buildings to utilize sustainable green technologies and practices.  The Task Group explores opportunities and challenges for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, in alignment with national climate goals and action plans, using renewable energy, energy efficiency, electrification, and smart building technologies at federal facilities.

The purpose of the upcoming meetings is for the Task Group to develop consensus recommendations for submission to the full Committee based on the findings of the first phase of the Task Group found in the presentation here. The Committee will, in turn, deliberate on the recommendations and decide whether to proceed with formal advice to GSA based upon these recommendations.

Those interested in participating in the meetings must email Dr. Ken Sandler at ken.sandler@gsa.gov by 5pm ET on January 6, 2022. The email must include the participant’s full name, organization, email address, and phone number. Participation instructions will be provided upon registration.
