FAA Announces Funding Opportunity for the Airport Terminal Program

In tomorrow’s Federal Register, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will announce an opportunity to apply for approximately $1 billion in fiscal year 2023 discretionary funds for the Airport Terminal Program (ATP), made available under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These funds are part of the $15 billion in total funding SWACCA helped to secure for airport infrastructure improvement projects through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that was enacted last year.

The purpose of the ATP is to make annual grants over five years (fiscal years 2022 through 2026) to eligible airports for terminal development projects that address the aging infrastructure of the nation’s airports. This includes: (1) constructing, modifying, or expanding facilities as necessary to meet demonstrated aeronautical demand; (2) bringing airport facilities into conformity with current standards; and (3) enhancing environmental sustainability.

Airport sponsors that wish to be considered for fiscal year 2023 funding under the ATP must submit applications here by 5pm ET on October 24, 2022.
