FAA Announces $374 Million in Airport Improvement Program Funding SWACCA Helped to Secure in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced more than $374 million in SWACCA-supported funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP) for airfield, safety, and other improvement projects at 299 airports in 46 states and American Samoa.  Specifically, this third round of AIP funding covers a number of projects including construction of new and improved airport facilities, repairs to runways and taxiways, maintenance of airfield lighting and signage, and purchasing equipment needed to operate and maintain airports. SWACCA successfully lobbied to include $15 billion in funding for airport improvements in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which was signed into law by President Biden in 2021.

Funding recipients include: (1) $7.2 million to Stillwater Regional Airport in Oklahoma for construction of a new terminal building to accommodate additional passengers; and (2) $4.6 million to Miami International Airport in Florida for reconstructing the existing Central Terminal building to increase capacity and efficiency.
