FAA Announces $427 Million in Airport Improvement Grant Funding SWACCA Helped to Secure in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced $427 million in SWACCA-supported funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Airport Improvement Grant (AIG) program for 245 airport-related infrastructure projects to expand terminals and upgrade baggage systems, enhance runway safety, and improve air traffic infrastructure. SWACCA successfully lobbied to include $15 billion in funding for airport improvements in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which was signed into law by President Biden in 2021.
Grant funding from this announcement includes: (1) $18.1 million to Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport in California to fund construction of a new terminal to accommodate additional passengers; (2) $13 million to Norfolk International Airport in Virginia to fund a portion of a terminal building expansion to increase capacity; (3) $11.2 million to Hector International Airport in Fargo, North Dakota to expand an existing terminal by adding four gates to accommodate more passengers and baggage; and (4) $6 million to Glacier Park International in Kalispell, Montana to fund the expansion of the existing terminal to include gates, ticketing and kiosk areas, security check points, and passenger hold rooms to accommodate more passengers.
