Wage and Hour Administration Seeks to Delay Independent Contractor Rule until May 7

The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Administration issued a notice which will appear in Friday's Federal Register to delay the effective date for the Trump Administration’s independent contractor final rule until May 7, 2021. The rule was set to take effect on March 8, 2021. The delay is in accordance with President Biden’s regulatory freeze memo issued on Inauguration Day. WHD states in the notice that the proposed delay will allow WHD an additional opportunity for review and consideration of the new rule.
