SWACCA Defeats Anti-Davis-Bacon Amendment to the Endless Frontier Act

This afternoon, SWACCA and its allies succeeded in defeating amendment #1858 offered by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) to the Endless Frontier Act (S. 1260) that would have stripped Davis-Bacon coverage SWACCA fought to include in the bill. The amendment was defeated by a vote of 42-58, with eight Senate Republicans crossing the aisle to vote with all Democrats to reject the amendment.

In May, SWACCA supported passage of an amendment to S. 1260 from Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) to apply Davis-Bacon coverage to taxpayer subsidies authorized under the bill to stimulate construction of domestic semiconductor manufacturing facilities. If Cornyn’s amendment had passed, this coverage SWACCA and its allies fought to secure would have been eliminated. We are pleased that a majority of Senators agreed with us on the need to ensure Senator Peters' amendment remained in the final version of this bill.
