Senate Democrats Release $3.5 Trillion Budget Resolution with Reconciliation Instructions
Senate Democrats released the text of their $3.5 trillion budget resolution which includes a number of reconciliation instructions for various Senate committees. Of particular interest to SWACCA, the budget resolution includes instructions to develop specific policy provisions related to: (1) workforce development and job training; (2) paid family and medical leave; (3) lawful permanent status for qualified immigrants; (4) labor enforcement and penalties; (5) rehabilitating and electrifying federal buildings; (6) federal investments in green materials procurement; and (7) upgrades to Veterans Affairs facilities.
The Senate is set to begin consideration of the budget resolution after the chamber completes work on the bipartisan infrastructure bill. The committees are directed to come up with their discreet portions of the reconciliation bill by September 15, 2021.
