NY Lawmakers Approve Legislation to Stop Wage Theft of Construction Workers
New York state lawmakers passed legislation S.2766C/A.3350A requiring general contractors to assume liability for any unpaid wages, benefits, or wage supplements owed to a worker, or a third party on their behalf, that were incurred by a subcontractor. The legislation also makes general contractors liable for attorney fees related to civil or administrative action by the worker or the state labor department against a subcontractor.
