Federal Judge Tells the SBA to Disclose PPP and EIDL Recipients by December 1

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg denied a request from the Small Business Administration (SBA) for a temporary halt to an earlier court order that required the SBA to publicly publish data on Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) borrowers.

In his opinion, Boasberg said that delaying disclosure “would deprive the public of information critical to an ongoing national debate of considerable importance, as well as basic details surrounding the unprecedented federal relief effort financed by taxpayer dollars” and ordered that the SBA disclose the information by December 1, 2020.

The SBA has not yet announced whether it plans to appeal Boasberg’s order.
