DOL Publishes NPRM to Implement the Biden Executive Order Increasing the Federal Contract Minimum Wage
The Department of Labor has published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to establish standards and procedures to implement and enforce Executive Order (EO) 14026, “Increasing the Minimum Wage for Federal Contractors,” signed by President Biden on April 27, 2021.
Among other things, this NPRM effectuates the Executive Order’s mandate to: (1) increase the minimum wage for workers performing work on or in connection with covered federal contracts to $15 per hour beginning January 30, 2022; and (2) indexes this new federal contract minimum wage in future years to inflation.
The NPRM will publish in the Federal Register Thursday July 22, 2021 and is subject to a 30-day comment period.
